Welcome to Calgary
Calgary is the largest city in Alberta, and serves as the headquarters for many of the energy companies that operate in the province. As a base for so many energy initiatives, it’s no surprise that the city itself has many interesting examples of energy efficiency and conservation on display.

REGIONAL PROJECTS

In Calgary, opportunity abounds to showcase different types of energy-related projects. We can explore Calgary’s largest solar photovoltaic system, a project designed to offset carbon emissions in the city. In eastern Calgary, the District Energy Centre provides heat for up to 10 million square feet of residential and commercial buildings. Another project involves cogeneration, producing 800 megawatts of electricity – half of the Calgary’s power needs!
